Model and mold making

From 3D printing to the aluminum tool

Exact shape – exact component

In order to obtain a perfect CFRP component at the end of production, both the design of the component and the model or mold construction must be carried out precisely. For us at Carbon Production GmbH, it is a great advantage that we can offer all steps from a single source.

  • Step 1

    The prototype

After the successful design drawing, the next step is to build the prototype. We create a 3D print of the required tool and check our concept to ensure that it fits perfectly and can be assembled as desired.

  • Determine the right tool

If the prototype no longer requires any changes, we can take care of the tool. It is important to consider which material is needed. For small quantities, it may be sufficient to choose a less expensive material. However, if your CFRP component is a series product or is used in large quantities on a one-off basis, a more durable material is recommended.

    Step 2

  • Step 3

    Manufacturing the tool

Depending on the choice of tool, this mold construction step looks different. Direct tools are milled with the CNC machine regardless of the material. If a carbon fiber negative is required, this is laminated.
